Some of the flowers from the park

I know I was supposed to post these the next day after I wrote the last blog, but you know me, always late, but better late than never.

I'm not going to ramble tonight, just post these and maybe tomorrow I will have some words.

Have a beautiful week!!!

October 1st all over the place ramble and some pictures

It's hard to believe it is October already.  Today is my oldest grandson's 17th birthday. I could have sworn he was turning 16 but he called me last night to thank me for his gift I sent to him and he insists he is 17.   I hate how time flies and kids grow up and I grow old and there is still so much I would like to do, but know I probably won't get to do those things.

I wanted do to more traveling than I have, but the way things are between the covid crap and lockdowns and the crazy protesters and rioters in various places...  Well I am not going to venture outside my state for now.  But that's okay.  Florida is a big state and there are so many places I have not seen right here at home.  Funny, I call it "home" now. It took me a long time to feel that way, but I have been here 20 years now and it is actually feeling like home, finally.  I still miss seasons, but do I miss them enough to move away from my family, kids and grandkids?   Probably not.

So anyway, at the end of this ramble I will post some pictures from my daytrip last week.  I figured if I can't go far away, I would find adventures in my own backyard so to speak.  There is a state park about and hour's drive from here that I have never been too, so that was my first destination. Across the road from the park is beach full of coquina.  If you don't know what it is, look it up. Hahaha.  I never knew about this beach and it is only an hour away!  Anyway, pictures later.

I have decided that I really hate politics!! Truth of the matter is, except for a brief time in my 40's or maybe my 30's, I have never gotten in a tizzy over any political candidate.  Since this country is so divided at this time, I decided I would watch the debate the other night.  Big mistake!!  It was almost embarrassing to even watch those two go at each other and interrupt each other and lie and talk over each other and never really answer the questions.  I felt like I was watching a demented circus act or something.  I have come to the conclusion that we are stuck between the choice of a narcissistic clown and a senile old puppet.  So I am left with no choice but to vote for................

Hey things couldn't get any worse with old Kanye as our leader could they?  Haha, well of course I am kidding, but he did say he was running for president and he did make the ballot in a few states, so he is a choice LOL.  You have to admit it would have been funny if he had walked on stage during that fiasco and proclaimed himself the best candidate.

What a bizarre world we are living in right now!!

Moving right along...

I think I will just post some those pictures now.  This is the Washington Oaks State Park on the east central coast of Florida. That body of water in the first two pictures is the Mantanzas River.  Somewhere farther down this river is Fort Mantanzas. I tried to go there too, but it was closed because of , you guessed it, COVID!  But that's okay, it gives me a reason to go back again sometime.
Also, next time I go, I will hit the nature trails at the park which I didn't get to because I wanted to see the fort which was closed.

The centerpiece of this park is a formal garden.  I have several pictures of the flowers which I will post tomorrow so as not to make this post too long.  I will also post pictures of the Coquina beach.

Anyway, this turned out to be a nice little daytrip, a hidden treasure right here in Florida.

Much Love,

Lia
