Fractured nursery rhymes ( what really happened to Humpty Dumpty)

Fractured Nursery Rhymes ( what really happened to Humpty Dumpty)

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall
And all the kings horses
And all the kings men
Couldn't put humpty together again

So Humpty Dumpty began to swear
He beat the horses and pulled out their hair
The king got mad and threatened his life
So Humpty ran off with the old king's wife

Their days were filled with so much strife
She chased him off with a butcher knife
He hid out in the horses' stalls
But she found him there and cut off his balls

Now Humpty was truly a broken egg
He fell on his knees and started to beg
But she was cruel and she was mean
She kicked him hard
Then went back to the king

He lay in the hay all broken and torn
Till along came Boy Blue, tooting his horn.
He carried him off to the chicken coop
And threw him down in all of that poop

I guess you think that was the end
But I don't believe it was, my friend
He crawled out of the poop, and did his best
To make his way to the nearest nest

And there he hid for the rest of his life
Living in peace, without any strife
The years went by, I think there were ten
Living under the butt of the Little Red Hen

The end~

A memory that never happened

Hand in hand we walked,  past the pond , into the woods.  Following a path which ended in an open meadow, a carpet of brilliant green and wildflowers.

You pulled me down on to the soft green grass and gazed into my eyes.Your hand reached over brushing the hair from my face.  A soft sweet gesture which me made smile.    A gentle breeze caused me to shiver. You put your arm around me and pulled me close. I could hear your heart beating and felt your desire.

Later we lay on our backs gazing up at the stars, our heads together in silent reverie....

Just ramblings before bedtime

I'm painting again.  It seems like I am always painting. I swore to myself many years ago when I was painting our house in South Carolina that I would never paint again.  And I didn't , for years. The previous owner of this house had painted all the rooms military gray. I hated that gray, but I refused to paint.  Then one day I realized how depressing that gray really was, so I started painting rooms . Off and on for awhile I painted till there was no more gray.

Then a couple of years ago,  I decided I did not like the color I had painted a couple of the rooms so I say to my daughter-

"we are going to paint the kitchen, and the foyer, and the hall, and the bathroom, and the livingroom"

So we painted and painted and one day we had all those rooms painted.

Well daughter got married and moved away, far away, to Idaho, with her husband who is in the Air Force.

So I decided I would paint her room. Why?  Well, everytime I walk by her room, I see it the color she painted it and I want her to be home !!  But that is not something that is going to happen, so I am painting her room and making it the guest room.  And SHE will be the first guest because she is coming for a short visit in September.  I hope she likes what I do with her room .

Anyway, I think I am done painting for now (as soon as I finish her room).

I am a perfectionist when it comes to painting , but I am also quite sloppy. I get paint everywhere.  I am still trying to figure out how I get paint on my boobs but not on my shirt.  It isn't like I lift my shirt when I am painting, but I always end up with paint on my boobs.   It's a mystery to me.

Well I really have nothing to say tonight, but I felt I should write something to keep myself in the habit.

I hope you all have a beautiful week ahead.

Oh, my daughter has started her own blog, so if you look on the right hand side of my homepage here, you will see a list of blogs I call "Good Reads". She will be the one called "The Idaho Girl" .  Please take a minute to click on it and visit her page and maybe even leave her a comment or two. She is a good writer and she is also very witty so you might find yourself wanting to follow along with her on her Idaho adventures.  I appreciate anyone who gives her encouragement to write and I thank you ahead of time. Oh and thank you to those who have already visited her page through Google+  .  I am shamelessly promoting her again because she is worth the time to read !!!

Here is a link to her page also if you just want to click from here:

She has already written two posts , the first one kind of introducing herself to her readers.

On a lighter note (a conspiracy theory)

I once bought a pair of scissors .  When I got home, I realized I needed a pair of scissors to get them out of the package 😕  Luckily I already had a pair of scissors, just not this kind of scissor. I'm wondering about the fact that I needed scissors to get to my scissors?  That doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Have you noticed that packages are extremely difficult to open these days ?  I bought some frozen fruit that came in a reclosable zip lock package.  It said "tear here" to open , here meaning the strip of package above the zip lock.  Supposedly you tear that off and then you reclose it with the zipper.  I pulled and pulled and couldn't get it to tear. I finally had to get my scissors.

Have you ever bought something in one of those hard plastic packages?  They are almost impossible to get open. Razors sometimes come in these kind of packages. Ok, maybe that is safer if you have little kids and they get into the bag and grab the package and want to open it. Of course we don't want little kids going around playing with razors.  Well, you need scissors to open this kind of package. And you better have a REALLY sharp pair of scissors too.  So you cut and cut and cut, and you have to go all around the item with the scissors.  But that is not enough. You cut through all that and it is still sealed shut. So you have to cut some more and make a place for your finger to slip in and pry it open. And then you cut yourself on the package and bleed all over the floor , and and and, well... Well you get the picture.

Oh and toys!  Have you bought a toy for your child or grandchild lately??  What is up with toys these days anyway??  Used to be you bought a toy and opened the top of the package which may or may not been closed with a piece of tape. You took the toy out of the package and kid played with it.  Now....... you cut and cut and cut through the packaging and when you finally get it open you find the toy is attached to a piece of cardboard with those straps that they use to handcuff criminals with. So you get your scissors again and try and try to cut through the straps. Sometimes those straps are actually screwed into a piece of plastic that is attached to the cardboard. Then you need to find your screwdriver and you better have a Phillips screwdriver. or six. of various sizes in order to get the screws out.  Sometimes they use regular twist ties, but they have twisted them around 400 times back and forth so it becomes a lesson in patience to try to figure out which way to turn them which usually means this way and that way.
Ok, so finally you get the toy out, but I forgot to mention that toys rarely come assembled anymore. It is up to YOU to assemble the cheap pieces of plastic that took you 90 minutes to get out of the package.  And on top of that, they have a hundred decals to put on.  Have you ever put together the Starship Enterprise?  It has 400 window decals that are no bigger than the thumbnail on a newborn baby's pinky finger. I kid you not.

Anyway, I have a theory about this. They say that China owns so much of the United States.  I don't really know, but I've heard this from various sources reliable or not. Well most of these toys are made in China, as well as various other products.  I think the Chinese have figured out a way to take over our country without even firing a shot.

They will drive us insane, one by one, as we try to figure out how to open the packages of the products we import from them.   After awhile, they will be able to walk in and take over a country full of blubbering idiots, driven crazy by Chinese junk packaged in impossible to open packages.

That's my theory and it is as good a conspiracy as any I have read here ! 😏

A time to be born, and a time to die ( a tale of two lives)

They say there is a time for everything under the sun...

The year was 1920 , in the month of January. A tiny little boy was born in the mountains of Virginia. As his mother held him close to her breast, he suckled contentedly.  She looked down at her little man and smiled, imagining what life had in store for him.  He slept peacefully in his mother's arms .

The boy grew and became strong and soon he was exploring the woods and fields and streams near his mountain home.  Days were spent fishing and swimming in the streams, running freely through the woods with his friends. Imagination took them on many adventures. Life was good for this little boy even though they were poor, he was loved and happy, and alive !  He vaguely remembers his parents whispering at night, something about a crash of some sort. He didn't really understand what they were talking about until much later. He was a little boy and these things did not concern him.  It was only much later in life that he learned the hardships his parents faced during what came to be known as the Great Depression.

The boy graduated from high school and went on to college for a couple of years.  By then the world was plunged into WWII  and like so many young men in those days, he went off to serve his country. He never imagined the horrors of war until he found himself caught up in the blood and carnage.  Years later, he would tell the stories of the people he met while stationed overseas . Everyday people just like you and I who touched his life with the kindness they bestowed on the American soldiers.  But there were horror stories too, stories he told but wished sometimes to forget.  One in particular stayed with him all his life. The night he and three other soldiers took cover in an abandoned house and he watched as two of his best friends were blown to pieces.  He could never tell this story without choking up, yet he would tell it, so that others would understand that war is hell and nothing to be glorified.   The young man was later shot himself and was awarded the purple heart.

He was sent home after that and served the rest of his tour stateside, helping to arrange entertainment for the troops overseas, a little bit of sunshine to help them through those dark days.

The young man eventually moved to South Carolina where he took a job and met and married his wife. They bought a nice little house and raised three boys . He became quite active in his community, helping to make it a better place to raise a family.

Later when he retired, he started a charity organization which helped the less fortunate members of the community with food, clothing, utilities and rent.  He always felt called to be of service to others and he spent his life actively helping others until the age of 92 when he was forced to give his work up after suffering a minor stroke.

He lived a long and productive life and saw many changes take place in the world during this time.

I was able to visit with him shortly before he passed away. He graced me with one of his beautiful smiles and I kissed him goodbye . He told me he was ready , at peace.

Mr. Roy died peacefully at the age of 93.  (January 20,1920 -May 11, 2013)

The following November, a baby boy was born, the great grandson of Mr. Roy, my grandson.  His mother held his tiny little body close to her and cried as she watched him gasp for breath. Born way too early to survive, the doctors did not even try to help him.  They just wrapped him in a blanket and told his Mama and Daddy to hold him and say their goodbyes.  Little Jonathan Thomas lived for twenty minutes. He never opened his eyes, never saw the world, never suckled at his Mama's breast, never cried, never smiled, never got to meet his big sister or the rest of the family who already loved him.

I arrived too late and only got to hold his lifeless little body in my arms. I looked down at him and saw a perfectly formed, tiny little baby.  And he was beautiful.  I wanted to somehow breathe life back into him. I thought "if only we could take him home, he would be ok"  . Of course this was quite irrational, but somehow I wished for a miracle.  He never got to grow up and experience a full life like his great grandfather before him.

Little Jonathan Thomas died struggling for breath.  (November 5, 2013-November 5,2013)

There is a time to be born, and a time to die.

Somehow, it does not seem fair.....

I feel the breeze on my face as I sit here embracing the peaceful morning .  My mind drifts away, to a place far from where I am at this moment.

I close my eyes and I am looking at the tall oak trees shading the yard. The picnic table built between two of those trees where we would take our lunch outside to eat. Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and kool-aid, the stuff we grew up on !   The field behind the house, full of ripened strawberries, growing wild.  The blackberry bushes growing along the fence. I think of how we used to crawl up behind those bushes to hide when we thought we were in trouble for some minor bit of mischief we had pulled off.

Lately

lately i've been drifting in a sea of nothing, no words, no emotion, no thoughts (that i can hang on to)

lately i have become withdrawn, living inside my head , listening only to the sound of the blood rushing through my veins, or the occasional thought that rushes through and out before i can take hold of it

lately i dream of nothing, nothing with any meaning, nothing to inspire me when i awake from the nothing sleep

lately i don't even notice the birds, do they even come around anymore?

lately i have become quite forgetful, or maybe lately, there is nothing i need remember

lately i put on a mask, so no one sees the nothingness of me

at this moment i force myself to tune into my surroundings

i  hear the chimes tinkling as the wind blows in from the ocean

i see the sky, it is at the same time, blue, white, and gray, big puffy clouds floating by

i listen to the wind from a storm brewing just to the south and east

i feel an emptiness inside

and the dullness of a headache

lack of caffeine i suppose

so i sip my tea

and sit

and wait

for nothing
