I Like Me

I was grumpy this morning. There's nothing wrong with being grumpy. Normal people have all kinds of moods and emotions and my mood for this morning was Grumpy. Various things make me grumpy from time to time and I think I will make that a regular feature of my blog here. The grumpy old woman posts.  I might even change the title of my blog to Grumpy Old Woman's Blog or something like that.

I'm generally a pretty happy person overall. But I have my days, because I am a genuine human being and if you are not an elf on a shelf, but a human, sometimes you are just grumpy. I'm not one of those fake people who pretends nothing in the world bothers me or gets my goat, not that I even have a goat, but you know what I am saying here. I don't walk around with a weird grin on my face all day because that is just -- Weird.

What caused me to be grumpy this morning?  I'm glad you asked, not that you did, but since you didn't ask, I will tell you. I have no idea what made me grumpy, but the grumpiness was exacerbated by things and people.  You know, if it wasn't for people and things, I would probably not get grumpy very often.

Selling this house and moving to some undisclosed location in the middle of nowhere is sounding better and better.  Nowhere, real nowhere, where there are no people or internet or cell phones. Heck I can do without electricity if I have a hand pump.   Gonna start looking into this nowhere place and see if it exists.

I ran on the treadmill for 45 minutes at lunch hour and then I practiced drawing a cat and I felt less grumpy. I think I will find a cabin in the middle of nowhere and spend my days walking or running barefoot out in the middle of nowhere and then come back to my little cabin and draw cats all day. One day they will find my skeleton surrounded by mounds of paper with cat drawings and they will call me the crazy cat lady, even though cats are not my animal of choice. I am a bird lady, so I guess I should get busy learning to draw birds.

Hold on, I have a text...

Ok, this is why I hate cell phones and all this stinking technology.  I sent a picture of my cat to my friend in Virginia, mind you, it was my first cat, but I am proud of my effort even if it's head is a bit too small. Small like he had been captured by some tribe in South America and they shrunk his head, but hey, maybe he was a cat without a brain so his head didn't grow right, right???   So, my friend, she is a pretty good artist but she has been drawing all her life and she has a natural talent for it.  She first tells me the cat is pretty good. I had already warned her about his head being too small.  But geesh, this is my first cat so what do you expect??   Next thing you know, she is giving me the full critique and pretty much tearing apart my poor cat. 😿  She may as well have sold him to a Chinese restaurant at this point!!

I will forgive her though, after all, she is even older than me by several years so she is a Really
 grumpy old lady!

I am at a point in my life where I have learned to like me. I like the person that I am and I like that I have overcome things in my life rather than giving in to the madness and feeling sorry for myself. I did that on a couple of occasions in my life, but I always pulled myself back up and pushed on and learned lessons from my experiences and have made a nice life for myself and I did it my way.
(Hears that song in my head, thanks D for planting the seed). And I continue to try to learn new things like drawing cats LOLOL because a person should never stop learning and trying new things, because once we stop learning and trying, we may as well be dead.

I'm shutting up now because I don't toot my own horn as a general rule.

I'm off to draw another cat, one with a bigger head. 😻

Have a wonderful night. 💗

Some rambling, a lesson, and other useless bits of information from yours truly.

These mornings keep rolling around as do the days, this one being the 15th of the year already and as usual, I have no idea where those days went or what I have accomplished in those 15 days which certainly means I have done absolutely nothing of consequence or I would remember what it was and be boasting about it, though I am not a boasting sort of person.

That is kind of a weird word, boasting. It brings to mind a rotund man in a checkered vest standing next to a fireplace while he puffs away on a cigar.

Ok, yeah, I know, I am weird but well, you must be too since you continue to come around and read this blather. Blather, now that word brings to mind one of those prim and proper Englishmen. I can hear him right now complaining about the incessant blathering from the chambermaid or some other peasant who works for him.

********************************************************************************************************************************

Well that is all I got written this morning. It is now afternoon and I am drinking a cup of Earl Grey and listening to the bubbles in the aquarium. I can't decide if I like that sound or not. I have finally gotten that aquarium well established after killing several fish over the course of a year, and now I have just four fish in there who have been alive for months.  I have found that the less you mess with aquariums, the better.  Just add some water every now and then and the best stuff to treat that water before adding it is Seachem Prime.  Oh and don't use those little aquarium stones for the bottom, use aquarium sand.  That way it is just like being in a real body of water where fish should actually live.   So there, that is my lesson for the day since I am sure you all really listen to me ahem, ahem.

Earlier today I had all this other garbage in my head I was going to use to write a blog post, but it doesn't seem to be there anymore. I spent all day painting a rock. Why am I painting a rock??  Well, that seems to be the craze these days. Painting rocks. Now me, being NOT an artist was not going to even think about painting a rock but I found this rock, that was shaped like a mountain. Actually I don't know if it is a rock or a piece of slate. Is slate a rock?

Anyway, it is hard as a rock and I am sure you boys understand being hard as a rock, so I decided I would make it look like a snow covered mountain, but me, NOT being an artist, could not get in my head how to do that, even though it looks just like a mountain.  Mind you, I have never been able to paint anything, much less draw, but this rock/slate was begging to be painted.  So I decide, well I can't paint a snow covered mountain, but I bet I could paint a sunset sky, so I did that.  But it looked so bare that I decided it needed a horse on it.  So now you are asking yourself, why, if this old woman cannot draw or paint, would she attempt to paint a horse on a rock?? Well because, I just thought it needed a horse and when I decide something I just have to run with it.  Now I can't just picture something in my head and draw it. I can't draw period, so I was perplexed as to how I was going to figure out how to draw a horse, paint a horse rather.

Then I had the bright idea, to paint a silhouette of a horse because that might be easier to do than having to put all the detail into a horse, especially for someone who can't draw or paint, whose six year old granddaughter insisted that the dog I drew was actually a pig....  (rolls eyes).  Of course on further inspection, it did have some pig qualities so maybe it was an overfed dog?

Ok, so I used a fine pencil to draw the outline of my horse because I knew darned well I could not paint it freehand. So it turned out ok for a person who cannot paint or draw, but I can't seem to get one of his hind legs looking right and I have painted over it a couple of times already and I am not happy with it, but it is my first attempt and it is going to stand as it is.  I tried to talk my daughter up at the Air Force base into coming down so she could paint the other hind leg for me, but she just laughed at me like I had lost my mind.

I am not ready to share my beautiful rock with you guys because I know you will laugh at me and I am such a sensitive soul that I might cry if you laugh at me (not really) but I will share this picture of this onion that I bought and never used and it is sprouting now so maybe I will make a painting of the onion which might turn out better than the horse.  And the reason I am sharing the picture of the onion is because that is a really ridiculous thing to share and I just felt like being ridiculous so here is the onion.

Oh and see that cast iron skillet on the stove behind the onion. The skillet on the left, not the right.  Well, I found out quite by accident that that particular brand of skillet is selling for upwards of a thousand dollars!!!   WHAT??? WHY???  The old ones are anyhow.  This one is really old as I got it from a nice and now deceased southern lady who has now gone on to to that place where no one knows your name and she was 78 when she died which was 10 years ago and she had had it since she first got married way back in the middle of last century of the last millenium.   So, yeah, I could sell it, but it has real sentimental value to it and besides she made the best fried chicken in that skillet so there is that.

I had some other things to write but this is getting long and I know you Facebookers and Twitterers can't handle too many words at once so I will end it here with the picture of the onion 😊

Things you should have learned in Kindergarten

Things you should have learned in Kindergarten

and a bit of payback to those who make fun of Floridians going through hurricanes.

If you build your house too close to the ocean, you will at some point get water in it. If you live by the ocean in the northeast, that water might have ice in it certain times of the year. Mother nature plays no favorites and there is a reason she doesn't like houses and seawalls built near her waters.

If you live in the northern states, you are going to freeze your butt off at times and be hit by blizzards and be buried in snow at times. Buck up and embrace your home, you chose to live there.

If you buy a ticket on an airline during January, or anytime of the year for that matter, expect to get stuck in the airport for hours or days at a time because of weather.  Mother nature plays no favorites when it comes to weather.  If you don't want to be stuck in an airport, check that little app on that phone your nose is always stuck in, and make an informed decision as to whether to show up at the airport at all, maybe even decide to reschedule your trip.

If you live where there are blizzards and ice, keep your azz off the roads if you don't know how to drive in that crap because 70 car pile-ups are not good. If you do know how to drive in that crap, stay off the road anyway, because there are too many idiots who don't know how to drive in that crap.

If you live in the south, you still might get stuck in an airport so follow the above advice.  If you live in the south, you might lose power because mother nature might surprise you and send five inches of snow your way, or an ice storm which pretty much guarantees you will lose power.  Buy a kerosene heater, they work great during those times.

If you live anywhere, north, south, east, or west.  Be prepared for emergencies. It just makes sense.  Don't wait until the day of the storm to stock up on essentials.

And finally, and I have been waiting for months to say this ---

Florida is not "merely a sandbar" and the fact that you even said that, shows why you are merely a secretary.

Stay safe, stay warm, this too shall pass.  Be like us Floridians, ride it out and get over it!!!  😜

Merry Christmas
