It was morning and it was evening

The day started out hot and humid . I stepped outside with my camera and the lens immediately steamed up.

I don't know how hot it got today, I just know it was HOT.

The grandkids and I stayed inside most of the day . But we did venture out to the library for some books and they read most of the afternoon.  Even the baby spent some time with her little stack of books. She loves the library.  I know you can read almost anything online, or on a kindle , or some other device. But there is nothing like holding a good old-fashioned bound book in your hands and turning the pages. So my grandchildren will grow up with a love for reading "real" books, if I have anything to say about it.

Tonight the sky was amazing. It is always amazing in my eyes, an ever-changing canvas. I never take such beauty for granted.  It almost looked like fire. Ha! maybe because it was so hot today ?

I don't care where it all came from. I don't care to fight over it. I only care to take it all in and be amazed everytime I open my eyes.

Goodnight and much love

In the news today (random musings after reading the news this morning)

Things that go through my head when I read the news. My thoughts in bold.

"A magnitude-8 earthquake has struck in the northern Pacific but is not linked to this morning's 7.2 quake closer to New Zealand, GeoNet says.
The North Pacific quake was off the coast of the Rat Islands, about 2000 kilometres west of the Alaskan peninsula at 8.53am (NZ time)."
I wonder if there are rats on Rat Island?

"Crime scene investigators can tell what a person ate and drank before they committed a crime, thanks to pioneering fingerprint technology.  The microscopic technology is called Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption Ionisation Mass Spectrometry Imaging"
I wonder if they can tell if you have been masturbating? {#giggle.gif}

"Train hits woman taking pictures on St. Augustine railroad tracks. The Florida Times-Union reports Smith told investigators she remembers taking pictures of the train but can't recall anything after being hit."
One word STUPID!!!!

"As many as ten people were shot, two fatally, in an eruption of gunfire outside and apartment building in the Liberty City section of Miami early Tuesday, according to Media."
It's just another day in paradise .....

An Arizona man was arrested after police say he followed a couple around town harassing and threatening them because he thought the car was a spaceship and the driver was an alien.
He must be related to the guy in South Carolina who built this -

Ok enough of this for now.   Have a nice day !!

(June 13, 14, 15 of 2014)

It seems I have lost a couple of days somewhere along the line.

Where did they go? Who knows? Wherever days go that fly by so fast you don't have a chance to "carpe diem"  or "seize the day" for those who don't speak Latin .

At any rate, I forgot to blog on the 13th, on the 14th I was tired and went to bed early and realized I hadn't blogged, but I was too tired to get up and post something. So here it is, the 15th and I said to myself - "Self, you better post something tonight, even if it is nonsense, because if you don't post, these people are going to think you are one big slacker"

Well I would not want you to think such a thing about me, because I do get things done, just not always on a schedule.  I am one of those people who absolutely hates to be on any kind of schedule.  I hate appointments, hate having to be somewhere at a particular time.  I need to do things on my time, when I am ready to and sometimes that means spur of the moment.

I've decided to paint my kitchen again. I know I just painted it about two years ago and it was quite the hassle to paint then, so I am sure it will be a hassle again this time, but I just HAVE to paint it. Why you ask?

Well, the last time I painted it, I painted it red........yes RED.  I don't know what possessed me to paint it red. It must have been a mid-life crisis or maybe it was a menopause thing. I didn't have all those hot flashes or crazy things that some women talk about when they are going through that dreaded "change of life" as they used to call it back in the olden days.  I kept waiting for some strange thing to happen to me, but it never did. But now I am thinking maybe painting my kitchen red was my strange thing.  You know, like one big hot flash of RED and it was over and done with.  Hahaha!!!

Anyway, I was looking at my kitchen yesterday and I said to myself  "Woman, what in the heck possessed you to paint this kitchen RED??  Were you out of your mind or what??"

So now I need to paint again and all I have to do is decide what color to paint it.  I think I will stick to the earth tones this time.  I mean one red kitchen in a lifetime is one enough.

I know for sure I am not going to paint it burnt orange.  I saw that color in Lowes and I thought to myself, "who would ever paint a room that color".   It reminds me of that burnt orange shag carpet that was so popular in the 60's and early 70's.  Ewwwww   I hope no one who reads this still has shag carpet.  What goofball invented shag carpet anyway??   Hmmm, why is it called shag carpet?   I think that must have had something to do with all that "free love" back in those days.   You know, everyone shagging everyone else on the carpet.......    Ok, nevermind, I better quit while I am ahead !!

Anyway, I did do some painting today, but it was not the kitchen. I had to touch up some paint in one of the bedrooms.  It was a good warm-up session.

Speaking of painting, tonights sky looked like it was painted.  I love the sky. It is one big ever changing canvas of color and beauty.

Goodnight everyone

Dancing in the Rain (June 12, 2014)

In the distance she hears

the rumbling of thunder

like a thousand horses

with hooves to the ground.

The blue sky darkens

to black, like night.

Anticipation builds

as the clouds roll in

and the winds begin to blow.

She feels him beckoning her

his voice commanding her

to step outside .

She stands before him

and does not resist

as he removes her dress

and it drops to the ground.

The air is charged with electricity

as his hands caress her body

When he pulls her close

she lays her head on his chest

and feels the thunder

of his heartbeat

And when she touches him

lightning streaks across the sky

The heavens open

and they begin to dance

In the rain

(June 11,2014) Rain and Tennessee

I was working on a blog for today, but I was unable to finish it because my granddaughter was here all day and then my daughter ended up staying for supper, so I wasn't able to concentrate on what I wanted to write. Hopefully tomorrow, I can have some peace and quiet and spend some time on it.

Well we finally got some rain today and it was a welcome relief after weeks of nothing but a spritz here and there.  Yes, I do have to mention the rain because rain is quite significant if you have ever experienced a real drought.  I did years ago when I lived in South Carolina. It did not rain for a solid year and my yard turned to dirt and we lost several trees . Some of them looked like a fire had come through, that is how dry and crisp they were.  My middle daughter was born at the beginning of that drought. It was June 1985.  We literally did not get a drop or rain until the following June . I still remember when the skies opened up . I was standing on my front porch holding the one year old baby and dark clouds began to roll in.  And suddenly it just began to pour and pour . My daughter got scared of it because she had never seen rain !!   So yes, I love the rain and always will. Since that year, I have never complained about rain.

Ok, another short little story which came to my mind this morning. If I have told it before, I apologize. I don't always remember what I have posted and what I haven't.

My young children and I  had taken a trip up to Indiana to visit my stepmom.  On the way home we were travelling on I-40 and I kept seeing those lighted signs saying there was a rock slide at the tunnel up ahead and to take the detour .  Well, I drove along and drove along and suddenly I look around and there are no other cars on the Interstate and we were surrounded by mountains.  It was the strangest feeling. So I told the kids to keep an eye out for the detour sign, surely it must be coming up soon because we were almost to the tunnel.   Well we drove a little farther and I am getting a bit panicky.  I decided to pull off at the next exit to try to look at the map and figure out another route.  We pulled off at the next exit and there was a road that went down the mountain a bit and there was what I thought might be a gas station.   So I pull up there and sitting outside on a bench was this mountain man and woman. And I am talking backwoods, missing teeth, wild haired mountain people.  And I am thinking that I really don't like the looks of this.  But I swallowed my fear and got out and the man just stares at me and the woman gives me the evil eye.  GULP

Well I managed to find my voice and I ask the man if he knew which road we were supposed to take to detour away from the rock slide.  He looks at me for a minute and he says "Where ya goin?" And I said, " I am heading back down to South Carolina.   He stares at me for a moment like I was nuts and then he says , and I kid you not...........

"YA CAN'T GET THERE FROM HERE" !!!!!

And the weird thing was, I think he really  believed it !

So that was enough for me. I hurriedly got back into the car and headed back the opposite direction and I decided to get off on Hwy 25 (I think that was it)  and that turned out to be the detour road so I got in line behind what seemed like a hundred semis and three hundred cars and we all followed that twisting turning dark two lane road for what felt like hours.  It was dark as dark could be and there were no hotels or restaurants for a long ways. The kids were tired and hungry and I just wanted to be home.

Anyway, I was never so glad to see the lights of Asheville and the sign that said I-26 !!!

I don't even know why I told that story, except that it filled up some space.

So just remember, never get lost in Tennessee, never ask directions if you do, because you might find out that   "you can't get there from here" !!

Goodnight

Oh by the way, that was way before everyone had a GPS in their car or on their phones.

(June 10, 2014) Nothing

I'm going to get in trouble for this, but I have nothing to say tonight. Not one single word. Nothing strange, bizarre or even silly.  I have no words of wisdom to pass on to you this evening and I have no words of ignorance either. Inside my head it is as quiet as the catacombs when the tourists are gone. (not that I would know, I've never been inside them) .

I'm working on a blog for tomorrow though so maybe by then my brain will wake up.

Goodnight

PS: Does this count as a blog post ?

(June 9, 2014) Don't read this if you think I am weird !!

Well , it seems my last post has caused a few of you to question my sanity .

That's ok, I question it myself sometimes, but not because of a silly story about a woozle.  I guess only one person here quite understands me well enough to know that I will write whatever is in my head at any given moment.

It's part of what makes me, me.  If it is in my head, it has to come out.

My youngest daughter moved away a little over a month ago.  She and I were very close and we used to come up with some crazy and outrageous stories .  Sometimes when I could not sleep, I would go into her room and visit with her. She was a night owl so it was not unusual for her to be up till 2 o'clock in the morning.  On the nights I couldn't sleep, I would go sit on her bed with her and we would talk till the wee hours of the morning. Eventually I would get really tired, and when I get tired, crazy stories and words come out of my mouth.  One night we were lying on her bed and I was watching the ceiling fan going around and around and suddenly the base of the fan looked like a spaceship and I blurted out to her, that there were aliens in the ceiling fan.  And that grew into a story, a crazy story about aliens in the ceiling fan.

I think she was the only one who really appreciated my silly stories.  Anyway, last night was one of those silly stories, even if it was true !!!!!

Haha :-)

Goodnight

Oh, here is a picture for you Professor, since you like the animals.  This is one of about 4 squirrels that frequent my backyard.  I know a lot of people do not care for squirrels, but these little guys provide me with a few laughs every morning as they chase each other around the yard and up and down the trees.  My little granddaughter loves them too, but she calls them "chip n dales" after the chipmunks on those disney cartoons.

(June 6, 2014) A peaceful place

I was in the shower this morning trying to come up with something to write . Unfortunately my mind wandered away from great poetic thoughts, to just plain madness.  haha

I wasted some time on another site today. A site that seems to be full of people who seem to be full of themselves. A bunch of  "know it alls" who know nothing at all as far as I am concerned.  I have to wonder what possesses grown adults to act like a bunch of middle school brats who can't have a civil discussion over ANY given subject.  I am going to stay away from there for awhile because quite frankly there are only a couple of people worth reading over there and one of them I can read without going there.

Ok, done ranting about that place.

What I want to say is I love Blogger. It is so quiet and peaceful and with the rare exception, I don't see all the fighting that I see on other places.  People here actually like to write and try to do a decent job of it.
It's the love of writing that motivates them. Not some political or religious agenda.   Ok, I am talking about my group of friends here.  I am sure somewhere out there are some mean spirited , grouchy assed people who are fighting over everything they can think of to fight about. But my  friends here are wonderful and I love ya all to pieces.

This isn't much of a post tonight I know. I had a lot of thoughts earlier but they flew the coop before I could write them down so as usual I am without anything important or profound to say.   I am sure about 3 AM in the morning something very interesting will come to me, but I doubt I will pull myself out of the bed and turn on the computer to type it all out. And then of course, I will have forgotten by morning.

Let me see if I have any pictures that Professor might like. I know he loves the animals so I will find one of those.

I forgot what this was, but I thought he was cute . This was from a trip to the zoo in South Carolina with my grandkids who live up there.
