Travelling through the land of Blog

After writing this morning's post, I spent some time outside soaking up the sunshine just like I said I would.  It was a beautiful sunny blue sky sprinkled with fluffy white clouds sort of day. One of those kinds of days where you can't help but smile and rejoice in being alive.  But of course with all things good, there has to be the not quite as good, not bad mind you, just not quite as good. Yeah I said that again, for emphasis I suppose.  Sitting out there with the sun beating down on me, I had to wonder why is it so hot today?  Why is it 85 degrees ? It's the middle of March for crying out loud !  Oh, yeah, I forgot, I live in Florida, the land of eternal summer.   I had forgotten about that since we had a nice cool winter.  I thought I had moved to another state, maybe Georgia or Alabama. I think they have seasons of sorts.

I came back inside and started reading blogs. I don't know if any of you do this, but I like to travel the blog world and find places I have never seen before. It's kind of like taking a long drive down the back roads with no destination in mind .  Sometimes you just drive and see nothing worthwhile and then suddenly you come to this little town or village or countryside and you see something that makes you stop and want to explore.  You end up walking up and down and all around the area taking it in and enjoying every minute of it .

That's what happens to me when I travel through the land of blog. I usually glance through a few and then I find one that really catches my eye and I get drawn in.  I start reading and keep going back and back into the archives discovering a treasure trove of talent.  The sad thing is, most of the time when I find these places, I find that person blogged for five years and then suddenly they just stopped and a year or two or three have gone by without a word.  I always wonder what happened ?  How can someone with so much literary talent just stop one day ?  Did they grow bored? Did they run out of ideas?  Did they die ?   If they died, I wonder if their family knew they wrote like this ? And did they appreciate the talent this person had?

I'm always running across blogs written by self proclaimed grumpy old men .  Oddly enough, they are always so funny, I can't imagine this person is really a curmudgeon .  Maybe blogging is a way to let off steam for them or to show their inner nice guy who has a sense of humor.   I know how some men are, they have to keep up their image .  And once they put out that grumpy old man image, they don't want anyone to know they are really just big teddy bears wearing masks.

Grumpy old women blogs are not as funny. They are usually grumpy and full of complaints. But I've run across some good blogs written by funny old ladies and I love those kind.   You know, we women, well some of us, spend a lot of our life trying to be all prim and  proper . There are certain things we just don't say or talk about.  The kids you know, we have to set a good example for the kids.   But kids grow up and then we can be ourselves.  We can say and do outrageous things because  well, we have lived long enough and earned the right to do what we want and say what we want.  And if we go a little too far, we can claim we are losing our minds, we have become senile and don't realize or remember saying or doing those things.    And then we just laugh because we know full well what we just said or did.  We don't have to keep up an image anymore.

When I turned 50 a couple of years ago........ok a decade ago. I told my daughter I was going to stop worrying about what people think. I was going to be who I was and if they didn't like it, they could jump into the Indian River for all I cared.  For the most part though, I behave myself in public places.

But here, in the land of blog, I can say what I want . I can be crazy and silly and there is nothing anyone can do about it.  Well that's not quite true. That depends on where you blog.  But here, on Blogger, I have this wonderful audience of readers who seem to tolerate my silliness quite well.

Just know I appreciate each and every one of you.

That moment (don't let it slide, let it go}

Do you ever let something slide, and let something slide, and let something slide, even though it is a knife twisting in your side, you just keep letting it slide and slide and slide ?

And then one day, you finally have that moment,  that one big moment where you just won't let it slide anymore , a big "OK THAT'S IT"  moment , an "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH" moment,  an "I'M NOT GOING TO DEAL WITH THIS ANYMORE" moment.

And you tell yourself  "Im done letting it slide, I'm just done with it period" , but deep down you wonder if you are really done and you know the only way to really be done is to just be done with it.

But the only way you will know if you are done with it, is to see it happen again and not let it affect you and you don't feel a thing because you are so done with it that you have finally detached .

And now you can look at it but not even see it anymore because it no longer exists in your reality like so many things you walk right by and never notice.

I had that moment today, not thirty minutes ago, and now I am done, I am so done.

And now I am going out to soak up the sunshine, live in the moment, the good moment, and breathe the fresh air till I drown in the goodness of it all.  And the only things I am going to let slide, are the cares of the world because for me, today is going to be a good day .

And I wish the same for you, my friends .  Go live in the moment and make it a good one.

And don't forget to Love, sincerely and not just conveniently.

honesty, such a lonely word

For the most part, I tend to accept people and all of their flaws , because we are after all, flawed humans. And I myself have many faults and flaws, so how can I expect more from others than what I have to offer ?   Besides, perfect people are arrogant . Arrogant  in that they only imagine themselves to be perfect .

There is one thing that I expect from people, myself included, and that is "honesty" .  Honesty in all things, not just the things we want to be honest about.  I've often been told that it is better to withhold the truth than to hurt someone with the truth.  I disagree. Truth is sometimes painful, but that is a pain we can,  for the most part, rise above and heal from.

I can accept painful truths.

What I cannot accept are lies and evasions .  A lie is a lie is a lie and there really are no such thing as pretty white lies.  Lies hurt and they hurt much worse than painful truths, because to me, it is very difficult  to rise above the pain brought on by a lie.  And it destroys trust . And I think we would all agree that once trust is destroyed, it is difficult to rebuild it.  I think this is why so many relationships fail.

And then we have evasions.  Some people do everything they can to avoid the truth. When asked about something or caught doing something, they  will run around in circles trying to evade the obvious rather than just being honest and speaking the truth, painful or not.  Evasions , in my opinion, are nothing more than lies that aren't spoken. And evasions, in the end, only postpone the painful truth.  I would rather get it out of the way so we can rise above and move on.

Honesty, it's such a lonely word.

that awkward moment

I'm not in the best of moods this morning but I won't bore anyone with the details .  So I am just going to do a post where I don't have to think real hard about anything. Hahaha, not that I think real hard anyway.  But it is safer if I don't say much of anything right now because this shall pass .

So anyway, I think we all have awkward moments in our lives and judging by the amount of these things I keep seeing online, just about everything in the world makes someone feel awkward somewhere.

There are so many of these, I might just make it a regular feature here on my blog . That way I don't have to think too much ~~

I used to belong to another blogging site which is full of toxic idiots and this was a typical response from so many of them.  Never ever join that site, there is nothing redeemable about it in spite of what some people try to tell you because they want to justify swimming around in the septic tank. Sorry to those who are still there, but truth is truth.

This is why I have to explain some of the blogs I write. People just don't get it, which means they are the stupid ones.  Ooops, my mood is showing here. Sowwy :-)

I'm expecting this to happen today since someone is the problem ....

Yeah, I did that for about two years for some stupid reason. Oh well....

This is a pretty common one and it happens to me more often than I would like to admit. But I take comfort in the fact that it happens to almost everyone, young or old.

This is another one that goes with the people on that other site. They do this all the time, failing to realize they are just as annoying as the people they complain about.  Heck I was probably annoying too to some of them. Hey yes, I was, I was annoying because I was too nice .

This happens to me on occasion. That is why I have a dictionary and actually use it.

Hahahaha, I will never have to worry about this one.

This is why I hate those "about me" sections .  Besides that I don't like to brag about my PhD !

This one is for you Skipper !!!

Outside my window

Yesterday my internet went down and I resorted to gazing out my window at the feathered friends who come to visit me three times a day like clockwork.

I have a pair of cardinals that I love to watch but they don't sit still so I have a hard time capturing them and I don't dare open the door so I can get a clear shot of them, so I have to take pictures through the window.

Yesterday they sat fairly still so I was able to get a shot of both the male and female.

Yes, I love birds as you all well know. I don't think I will ever grow tired of watching them.  I will probably die sitting at my window watching the birds !

Tuesday nothing but real life nothing

I really have nothing to say but I am trying to keep this blog open for some stupid reason. Maybe for sentimental reasons. Therefore I must write something every now and then, even though my something is nothing when all is said and done.

Beautiful Friday

It was a beautiful clear day today, but quite chilly for Florida. I had my granddaughter all day. She has a cold so I didn't want to take her outside for very long , but we ventured out to the back yard for about thirty minutes.  We were only out there for a few minutes, when she said "Nana, it's a pretty day, I need my camera" .  Well that made me smile because even though she is only three years old, she has taken quite the interest in photography.  She notices everything and really appreciates nature and beauty.  She gets so excited about sunsets and I have often heard her exclaim "Wow, that is so beautiful !"   There aren't many three year olds who have learned to appreciate a sunset.

Anyway, she used to want to use my camera to take pictures so I would let her, but I would hover over her always worried about her dropping it.  For Christmas I bought her a child's digital camera. It takes halfway decent pictures as long as there is enough light.  In a couple of years, if she is still interested, I will get her a little better one . But for now she is content with the one she has.

I will be quite busy for the next week, so not sure how much I will be posting, either here or on Google+ , but I will try to check in and mumble a few words everyday.

Just know that I appreciate all of you who stop in to read my rambling , or to view my posts  on G +.  You are treasures, each and every one of you !

I hope you all have a beautiful and restful weekend.

Much love,

~Lia

Today WAS a beautiful day, just like she said !!!

Repaired

For years they tried to fix it
But it seemed broken beyond repair
Until one day she realized
She had been holding the missing piece
Which would make it whole again.
In her hand, she held her heart, tightly
Only when she was able to let it go
And put it back into place
Were they able to fix it.

My Saturday Evening Nonsense Blog aka Dear Deers

Dear friends,  that would be dear as in near and dear to my heart as opposed to deer because if you were deer , you would probably be prancing around the yard at the ungodly hour of 4 AM eating up someone's garden and leaving piles of deer poop all over the place. And besides that, you would be naked , since of course deer do not wear clothes and I really don't want to imagine all of you , my dear friends as naked deer.  So, I am happy you are all very dear to me and not deer and since the majority of my readers happen to be males, that means you would all be naked Bucks, or would that be buck naked ? (Hmm on the other hand, that may not be such a bad thing to imagine...)

And my female readers would be Does and that reminds me of that song, "doe a deer a female deer , re a drop of golden sun, mi a name I call myself " etc etc etc,  and I really do not want that stuck in my head or it will go on and on and on like the neverending story or the song that never ends which reminds me of another song "this is the song that never ends, and it goes on and on my friend" etc etc etc.

Oh my gosh!!  Now they are both stuck in my head and I only have myself to blame , which most of the time we are the cause of our own distresses so I won't blame any of you dear does or bucks for these crazy songs that are now stuck in my head.

And now I just called you all "does and bucks" so you must actually be deer after all and now nothing makes sense to me so I should change the subject before you all realize I am quite weird at times.

Wait ! Some of you already know this, but you new readers are probably wondering if you should continue to associate with me , but I assure you I am quite harmless even if I am weird .  And one thing for certain, I am not a deer, but if you stick around long enough, I shall become quite dear to you ---

Or maybe not .

So my dear deer (s), though this seems quite queer (not THAT kind of queer but rather strange and odd from a conventional viewpoint) it shall soon become clear that I am not drunk on beer , it's just this time of year that makes me feel near and dear to all of you deer (s) , so never fear I shall end this soon and ride off into the sunset on a big John Deere (with a naked buck maybe?) , and you will all shed a tear because you will miss me here .

Now that has to be it because I am running out of words that rhyme with deer my dear (s) .

The End ~~

(You really should be laughing now)

Just a few thoughts on January 5th

Well here we are , the fifth day of the year already.  I was sick up until today and time kept right on slipping, slipping, slipping....

It's strange when a person gets sick and you lose days of your life just lying there feeling like you might be better off dead, but hoping you get through this rather quickly.  I won't go into the details but it was bad....

I seem to be doing some strange things lately which make me question if I am getting a bit daft in my old age.  Yeah, I know, I am not that old, but the things I do sometimes, make me wonder just how bad I will be when I do finally reach those "golden years" .  When exactly do those golden years begin by the way ?  I mean if you think about it , some people live to be 100 and some pass into the great beyond at a much younger age.   So if one only lives to be say, 65 , wouldn't 59 be part of their golden years ?  A very dear elderly gentleman I knew, once told me the reason they call them the golden years is that is when the doctors take all your gold !

Hmmph, I don't have much gold and I avoid doctors as much as possible, so they won't be getting rich off of me.  If nature can't cure me, it's not going to get cured.

Of course I might change my mind if I ever come down with some major ailment, but for now, I'm keeping my gold .  Oh who am I kidding, I don't have any gold, but I do own two houses and that leads me to my next thought.

I own one house here in Florida and another in South Carolina.  Currently the one in South Carolina is on the market and hopefully by this time next year I will only own one house.   But for now I have to pay utility bills for both houses.  Last month I sat down to pay the bills for both houses.  One check goes to the City of O****  and the other goes to the City of T****.

Most of my bills I pay online, but for some reason of which I have no clue, I had not gotten around to setting up these two so I could pay them online.  I still write checks for them.   At some point I was scrolling through my check book register and noticed I had made a check out to the City of O****  for $54.26  and I wondered why I had made a check for that much to the City of O**** when that bill is usually only $29.35 .  Then I saw I had made another check out to the City of O**** for the usual amount.   I realized the $54.26 amount was actually the amount for the City of T****  and I had recorded it as the other city.   Then I started worrying....... Did I make the actual check out to the City of O**** , the one I mailed to the City of T**** ?  ( I hope you are following this so far)  .

Well I checked my bank account online but that check had not cleared yet. They seem to take forever to deposit those checks for some reason.  So I checked again a few days later and that check number had cleared the bank .  Now oddly enough, I HAD actually made it out to the City of O**** but mailed it to the City of T**** . I did however put the right account number on it.

Now what bothers me is this---  First of all, that I made the mistake in the first place.  I must be slipping (in my "golden" years) .  But, what bothers me more is that someone had to have gotten that check at the water department in the City of T****  , but they never noticed or decided not to notice that the check was made out to a whole other city.   Then they deposited that check into their bank which was TD Waterhouse........ no one caught it there.   It then went to MY bank and no on caught it there.   Not one single person in three separate institutions caught the error ??

But let ME try to go deposit a check into my bank account which is  made out to someone else and they will catch it before I can blink my eyes. (not that I have ever tried this mind you, but I feel sure they would)

Anyway, I set up my accounts on both cities so I can pay them both online now .   Oh and I did check my balance with the City of T*** and it is zero so at least it posted to my account.

Now I should be  ok as long as I keep remembering to pay the bills on time (which so far I have never paid a bill late)  and as long as my laptop keeps working and my internet is running, things should go quite smoothly from here on out :-)

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to all. Sorry I have not been on lately.  I had a bad cold and cough starting at Thanksgiving. I was finally getting over t...
